Building a deck with your favorite Dinosaur and Move cards and facing off against your friends is what the Dinosaur King Trading Card Game is all about. But that’s only half the fun—hunting down new Dinosaurs and Moves to power up your deck and expand your collection is tons of fun too! Some cards are rarer than others, and that makes them more valuable. Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about the different special cards.
There’s nothing like the feeling of opening a new booster pack and seeing what’s inside. Will you get the last card you need to finish your deck? Maybe you’ll find a Rare card and be the envy of all your friends. How do you figure out what you’ve got? It’s easy to tell just by looking! There are four different levels of rarity: Common, Silver Rare, Gold Rare, and Colossal Rare.
Just like the name says, Common cards are the most common. You get a few Commons in each booster pack. Commons don’t have special foil like the other rarities do. That doesn’t mean they’re worthless, though. In fact, may of the best Dinosaurs and Moves are Common cards. Commons make up the backbone of most decks. There are 94 different Common cards for you to collect.
Besides the Commons, every booster pack has either a Silver or Gold Rare. Silver Rares show up a little more often than Gold Rares. You can spot a Silver Rare, like this Spinosaurus card, right away, because the whole card is shiny and silver. Besides being really cool looking, Silver Rares are powerful cards. Silver Rare Dinosaurs have strong abilities, including ones you can’t find on Common Dinosaurs. Silver Rare Moves give a big Power boost, have an awesome special ability, or both! You’ll definitely want to get some Silver Rares for your deck—they can really make a difference. There are 33 in all, so see if you can find each one!
One out of every few packs has a Gold Rare in it instead of a Silver Rare. Gold Rares really stand out, because the whole card is shiny and gold colored. Gold Rares include massive Dinosaurs and the most powerful Super Moves. Check out this Pachyrhinosaurus to see what a Gold Rare looks like. Your opponent will definitely know it when you whip out a Gold Rare against them. There are 25 different Gold Rares to find in booster packs.
The rarest of all cards are the Colossal Rares. These cards have amazing patterned foil that shines differently depending on how the light hits it. Each of the ten different Colossal Rares is a powerhouse Level 5 or 6 Dinosaur, like this Carnotaurus, and each one has a cool picture showing that Dinosaur running wild in the real world. Colossal Rares are the centerpiece of any collection, and they add real “bling” to your deck.
Some cards also have a “TV Moments” bar at the bottom of the card. These have pictures taken straight from the Dinosaur King TV show. They even tell you what episode each picture is from. There are 18 in all, and you can find Common, Silver Rare, and Gold Rare TV Moments cards. Collect all the TV Moments cards to relive your favorite Dinosaur King episodes while you play!
With Common, Silver Rare, Gold Rare, and Colossal Rare cards, it may sound like there’s a lot to collect, but don’t worry! It’s easier than you think to get the cards you want. Dinosaur King is a Trading Card Game. You can trade your extra cards or cards that don’t fit in your deck for the cards that you want. Now that you know which cards are harder to get than others, you can be sure you’re getting a fair trade. It’s fine to trade several Common cards for one Silver Rare, but if you aren’t sure if a trade is fair or not you should only trade cards of the same rarity.
Now that you know what to look for, get out there and get collecting! There’s nothing like the thrill of finally tracking down that one last card you need to make your deck perfect. For a real challenge, you can collect the whole 160-card set. Each card has a number, so you can easily tell which ones you’re missing. You can also keep track of which cards you have with this checklist. Print it out and check off the cards you have. Make your move and complete your collection!
