Upper Deck used some of its most famous designs featuring today’s brightest stars inside this new set
North Las Vegas, NV (November 6, 2008) – There is no doubting the impact Upper Deck has made in the card-collecting world. Many of Upper Deck’s designs since the company’s inception in 1989 are now well-known and admired in hobby circles. As a way of celebrating these classic designs, Upper Deck is proud to release 2008 Timelines Baseball where many of the company’s most famous card designs have returned home.
The aesthetics may be time-honored, but the players featured are from the 2008 season. This gives collectors a great opportunity of finding rookie cards of standouts like Jay Bruce, Evan Longoria, Clayton Kershaw and Kosuke Fukudome immortalized in these classic designs.
Collectors will find on average, one card each with designs from 1992 UD Minor League, 1995 SP Top Prospects and 2004 UD Timeless Teams in every eight-card pack. Cards with the designs from the 1993 and 1995 SP brands will be a little tougher to pull and likely more valuable. To make the product even more exciting, Upper Deck has included rare autograph versions of these cards that will fall – on average – two per box.
“It’s really a different pack-opening experience when you see some of the designs from years past in a new product,” said Gabriel Garcia, Upper Deck’s associate brand manager for baseball. “It was an amazing season for baseball and this is a great way to chronicle it in a different way. We’ve heard a good deal of excitement about collectors wanting to find autograph versions of the 1993 and 1995 SP designs in particular, so now they have their chance.”
Collectors will find that 2008 Upper Deck Timelines Baseball is not without its share of chase elements as well. Lucky collectors could open packs yielding “Yankee Stadium Legacy” memorabilia cards, “Signs of History” exchange cards for cut autograph cards from former U.S. Presidents and “Timeline Cut Signature” cards of some of the game’s greatest deceased heroes.
Collectors can find 2008 Upper Deck Timelines Baseball in stores now.
