A Brett Favre insert is our bonus card?

I can't believe how stupid I feel knowing how much money I've spent on your products in my lifetime only to be kicked in the groin once again.

    UNFREAKING BELIEVABLE.

Re: 2008 ICONS IMMORTAL LETTER BRETT FAVRE

I thought that these cards were to be numbered to 20 (if you look at the image UD provided for these cards in the 2008 UD Legends set they are) But the image they have posted on facebook have them numbered to 124? I spent between $40 -$60 each for these redemptions when this product came out in 2008 when I thought they were going to be a limited run. And the Limited Edition"Bonus card can't be all that limited if they made one for each redemption. All I can say is thanks UD I really appriciate the missleading info this reminds me of a few years back when you took over Fleer and stated in the sell sheet that there would be 1 Jordan throwback auto in each case of Fleer Basketball so I bought a case and then poof all of a sudden that was just a misstake that was made on the sell sheet. Once I get these I'm afraid I am calling it quits I used to love this hobby and you have pretty much taken the fun out of it for me.

Guess you can't see the image anymore in the 2008 Icons set someone took it off but I assure you I looked it up last week and it showed the image of the card and it was numbered XX/20 can't remember the exact number that was on the card but non the less it was there.

I believe this is what the previous poster was talking about.  Even Beckett.com has this card in their listing as being numbered to 20.  I don't really know what to say.  Maybe their scanner was not working right, but the photos on facebook show the jersey letters as being some sort of pale green color.  Are those letters even from Favre Jets jerseys?  I thought the long delay in production was due to waiting on the actual Favre Jets jerseys to be made.  Maybe an entire UD production team was fired in the process and there were other changes happening in UD that caused so much disappointment and confusion on the delay and production of these cards.  I don't know what to think at this time.  I'll wait to see what my cards look like when they get to me.

Thanks, Upper Deck, for trying your best (at least I hope you did).  In the future, make sure you hire somebody who knows what it feels like to be a UD customer in your production and marketing teams so that you can have someone there advocating for the sake of serious collectors (in essence, someone who knows customer service. . .and if you do know what it means to provide great customer service, then I hope you implement that better next time).  I know a lot of these comments on this thread seem very harsh, but no doubt there is proper cause for the confusion and disappointment from collectors over how these redemptions were dealt with.  If you're like me where you don't like people telling you how to do your job, then do your best to not give them any reasons to do so.

I've already waited over 13 months for these redemptions.  Another two weeks wouldn't hurt.

Yep that was the pic I was trying to find. Funny thing is they changed the card completely now Favre is in an action pose. I feel like Lando Callrissian when Darth Vadar says "Pray I don't Alter the deal further"

"In process of shipping" means they have sent the packing slips out to their warehouses and it's listed to get packaged and sent out.  Once it ships, the status will read "Shipped".

Re: 2008 ICONS IMMORTAL LETTER BRETT FAVRE

Received my long awaited NON-game used, NON-autographed Brett Favre card with the limited Bonus card. The phrase "Bait and Switch" comes to mind when I look at the card. It's not numbered to 20 as first shown, not to 100 as Beckett reported, which was a number provided to them by Upper Deck, not to 124 as some of the lettermen are numbered but numbered to 127. I wish I knew a good attorney that would hold this company to it's word. As for the limited edition card..it's only limited to what ? Upper Deck you have lost me as a customer. You are cheats and liars and I hope you lose all your licensing contracts. signed, Randy Miller

Re: 2008 ICONS IMMORTAL LETTER BRETT FAVRE

The only thing I can say is wow.  These cards are not holding their values.  Normally, the actual card itself holds more value than the redemption insert card, but that's not the case so far.  I'm still waiting for mine (how did everyone else get theirs already?  Was it because they redeemed it at a shop?).  I bought so many of them, thinking they'd be numbered to /20.  Upper Deck, what are my options?  (can I send them back for replacements?)  There was false advertising involved (card produced is not equivalent to card promoted), along with poor customer service (communication. . .UD should have told collectors what changes to expect on the cards).  The bonus cards are just variations of two photos (a cheap way to compensate more than one year's wait, if you'd ask me. . .no wonder facebook showed only two limited edition cards, because that's all there really is).  This looks very bad, for Upper Deck and for collectors.  I'm speechless.  With Topps (along with Bowman, I presume) losing its football licenses, it looks like it's going to be bad for collectors from here on out if this is the kind of customer service and value to expect from UD and its products.

*As for the AFC ROY Letterman, why didn't UD choose to make cards of Joe Flacco, who won the AP Rookie of the Year award?  Instead they go with Chris Johnson?  Did it cost more to license Flacco?  That's gotta be the reason.

*Do the math on those Favre limited edition cards.  There's gotta be more than 6,000 of them altogether if one is sent out for every Favre, Obama, NFC Roy, and AFC Roy, and other redemptions.

*Search up "icons favre" on ebay.com and you'll see that not all jersey letters are the same color.  What happened there, Upper Deck?  I hope all of mine are the same color.

**You know what would be great?  If Upper Deck can schedule  future autograph signing sessions with Brett Favre, President Obama, Chris Johnson, and Matt Ryan and allow people with these specific cards to send them in to have them signed (kind of like what etopps.com does with their cards) along with a payment of maybe $10 a card, I'm sure that would solve everyone's bickering.  The values on those cards would soar.  With Topps out of football cards, Upper Deck can monopolize by providing such services.

actually, i got mine today and it still reads that its in the process.

i too am totally disappointed that it was not limited as first thought. 124 as mine says is not limited. taking into fact that that is 124 cards with the letter B and 124 cards of each of ones needed to spell broadway etc will make this an over-produced card. i knew we were going to get screwed, i just didnt know how far they would bend us over on it. wow, i too will not be shedding a tear when UD is tossed out of the collecting hobby.

Re: 2008 ICONS IMMORTAL LETTER BRETT FAVRE

You gotta check this out.  One of the letterman patches for Matt Ryan is the letter "V".  Search up 110457080037 on ebay.  What the heck is it supposed to spell?  Vick?  Did some idiot confuse the V for the Y?  Can somebody at Upper Deck please tell us what these letterman are supposed to spell?  Whoever posted the announcement on facebook made a mistake.  BF1 is going to spell NEW YORK JETS, because I'm seeing some Y's for sale on ebay.  And the presidential letterman is going to spell PRESIDENT OBAMA, not simply OBAMA as stated (there are a bunch of P's and R's and T's for sale on ebay).  What is going on over there at Upper Deck?  Are you guys misinformed?  Please be more accurate with your announcements and promotions in the future.

Re: 2008 ICONS IMMORTAL LETTER BRETT FAVRE

    Dear Customers,

We apoligize for the delay in getting out the NFL Icon Lettermans as there was a production issue with the cards which required reproduction of the damaged product. The limited edition Brett Favre card was only produced to people who waited to receive their letterman cards.  The Brett Favre cards will not be found in any product and were produced just for the customers that patiently waited for their redemption cards.

    Sincerely, Customer Service
