Upper Deck Releases Latest ‘Pro Shots’ Action Figures Spotlighting NBA Great Michael Jordan!
Bring the NBA’s No. 1 Slam Dunk Contest Moment of All-Time Straight to your Home or Office
Las Vegas, NV (February 18, 2009) – You've seen the footage. You had the poster. Now pick up the figure. The specially designed “Pro Shots” figure from Upper Deck, that is. Spotlighting two of Michael Jordan’s most memorable moments ever on the NBA court, the just-released MJ Series 2 Pro Shots action figures are sure to comprise the hottest figure release of the year. The two moments captured include Jordan’s gravity-defying dunk that closed out the 1988 NBA Slam Dunk Contest as well as “The Move” from Game 2 of the 1991 NBA Finals when MJ – in mid-air underneath the basket – transferred the basketball from his right hand to his left and banked it in against the Lakers.
The stunning figures recently arrived from the factory and are now being prepped to ship next week to your favorite retail and hobby shops. Locations include Toys R' Us, Champs, BC Sports, and select Target, Sports Authority, and Dick's Sporting Goods. Be sure to keep your eye out for the alternate colorway versions in clam shell packaging to complete your MJ collection.
Pro Shots figures are 7" scale collectible figures presented in the popular "hyper-realistic" style. With sculpting by industry leading Gentle Giant Studios and an impeccable level of accuracy in paint and deco applications, Pro Shots action figures recreate the top moments of sport's top athletes. Packaged in either a diorama collector's box or in a crisp clam shell, each Pro Shots figure connects the collector to the emotional moment out on the court or field of play.
“We’re ecstatic with these latest ‘Pro Shots’ figures of Michael,” said Eric Hansel, sports collectibles product manager for Upper Deck Authenticated, Upper Deck’s memorabilia division. “Sculpting studio Gentle Giant did a fantastic job utilizing 3D-scanned modeling of Michael’s most glorious moments and now collectors will reap the benefits of this incomparable work.”
Each Pro Shots figure comes packaged inside a clear “in the moment” diorama-style display box with an Upper Deck trading card commemorating the moment. Besides these latest two variations, Upper Deck has previously released Jordan’s “1998 NBA Finals Last Shot” figure, as well as MJ’s “1985 Slam-Dunk Competition” featuring No. 23’s signature cradle dunk from his first appearance in the annual event. Fellow Upper Deck spokesman Tiger Woods also had two earlier figures released, commemorating his victories at the 1997 Masters and the 2000 PGA Championship. The suggested retail price for each one is $15.99 to $19.99. Collectors can also track down the special alternate colorway versions of each figure at select hobby shops, Champs retail stores or at www.upperdeckstore.com, which will be shipping later this month.
